Thanksgiving

Hello friend,

It is hard to believe September is finished; we have had one month of school and are looking at Thanksgiving just around the corner. We have so much to be thankful for in this country and I know you teachers do an awesome job with this topic and your students.

It was a busy September as I helped the students of Tyson Elementary work on their outdoor mural. The theme was "the tree of knowledge" and was very interesting and exciting to see what the students came up with when they thought about knowledge. Each student had the opportunity to submit an idea in the form of a drawing and most all were used except for some duplicate ideas.

September was also an exciting month for me as I have been working really hard getting my Anyone Can Draw instructional DVDs ready for sale! Aside from getting over my nerves at teaching a classroom with cameras pointing at me, the shoot went really well and I can't wait to launch them in a few short weeks. So more on that to come as we get closer to the big day!

It is my hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday with family and friends.

This Month's Drawing - Scarecrow and Turkey

I have included three step-by-step drawings for this holiday. The scarecrow might not fit so well with Thanksgiving but he does fall into the harvest section as without his efforts the birds may have got all the crops! Of course the Turkey and the pie fit in nicely with the thoughts of a Thanksgiving dinner.

What's New

In October I am looking forward to being at the Auguston Traditional School; It is always a lot of fun to work with the students and staff there.

I have continued to work with the Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association and have been inspired by those with an injury and their hard work to learn new skills. The methods used in the Anyone Can Draw workbooks have proved effective for their simplicity in teaching others to draw. The students that I have been working with have been able to master complex drawing skills including perspective drawing. It has been a pleasure to work with those who have worked so hard and it has be awesome to see their confidence rise when they realized, "I can do it!"
