Your New Drawing Tip is Here!
Spring Bunnies!
Hi,
Here we are starting the month of April! For a lot of us, Spring is starting to show through flowers, warmer weather and green leaves on the trees.
March has been another busy month for me but also very exciting as I have been working with a film company to put the Anyone Can Draw lessons on DVD as instructional videos. It has been a lot of work and a lot of fun working with the students to put this project together. Watch for updates on how this project is progressing and when the DVD's will be available.
Drawing is like anything else we learn in life, the more we practice the better we get; however, because there is so much to teach in the classroom there is not always enough time for drawing. One thing I found is even 10 minutes of drawing can stimulate the imagination. For boys especially, if they can draw a scene first and then write about it later they are often more successful in their writing. Their drawing gives them something to think about and quite literally communicate about.
Some teachers I know are setting aside a small period of time for drawing and how big of a difference it has made to their students. One teacher shared with me how she puts on relaxing music and has the students draw for 10 minutes during that quiet time. The next day the students have a picture they can write two or three sentences about. So far everyone is happy!
This Month's Drawing - Rabbits
For this month I wanted to share with you two "How to Draw Rabbits" techniques. This is in keeping with the season of Spring and also fits in very well with the unit titled "Things on the Farm" in the Anyone Can Draw Primary Grades book.
Some of the classrooms I will be visiting this month are studying farm animals and may even have the chance to get to a farm. For this drawing exercise I have kept one of the rabbits quite easy while the other produces a bit more of a challenge. Have fun!
