Hello,

For those of us that live on the southern West Coast of Canada, we are experiencing our rainy wet season. We have noticed the Robins are back and the blossoms are out on the trees. I don't mean to gloat but it is very nice to see spring arriving.

I'm sure that most have had their Spring Breaks and it is back to routine until the Easter Break at the end of this month.

So if you are experiencing spring, enjoy! And if you are still locked in winter's icy grip then this month's drawing page is for you.

This Month's Drawing - Spring Ducks & Birds

This month we will learn how to draw baby birds and ducks and ducklings. Something to get our minds focused on the "new" things that happen at this time of the year. So enjoy and Happy Spring!

Tip of The Month

I have had a few questions about what to do when students press so hard with their pencils.

A suggestion from a teacher at one of the conferences was to have the child use a mechanical pencil. These pencils have very fine lead in them and if they press too hard then the lead will break. They will soon learn to draw "lightly".

I have tried this method recently and it has worked for some of my students.

This month finds me at several different schools. I am at Tyson Elementary, Greendale Elementary and Bernard Elementary in Chilliwack. I will also be visiting MEI Elementary in Abbotsford. I am very excited to be getting to those schools this month.
