Winter Sports

Hi,
Happy New Year and I hope that you had a great holiday break and are ready for school again.

This Month's Drawing - Toboggan Rider and Hockey Goalie

With the Olympics coming we all know that this year is going to be a year with a lot of focus on sports. With that in mind the next couple of newsletters will have a sports theme about them. When you look at this month's drawings you will notice that I have given a reasonably easy picture of someone on a sled and a little harder drawing of a hockey goalie.

When using these guides for the "toboggan rider" and the goalie, encourage your students to draw themselves. Have them think about what else they could add to their drawing: scarves, team jersey and backgrounds. These drawings are great for adding to other parts of their pictures.

Notice as well with these drawings, as with most of the ones that are in my drawing guides, each step that the student draws are lines that stay. This keeps with my belief that students should have "success" quickly when learning to draw.
