Fall & Winter Scenes
Hello,
I know it seems a bit funny to say that I hope you all had a good summer as it seems that summer was so long ago. I had a great summer as my family and I were overseas in the Baltic countries. My wife who is teacher, taught at the summer school program at the University of Tallinn so it was a bit of a working holiday for us.
I also had the opportunity of doing some Anyone Can Draw classes there as well. So it was a great way to meet people and teachers in another country. We were also fortunate enough to visit a couple of schools while we were there and that was an education in itself.
It is very interesting to see how things are done in another place but it is always good to get back home again.

This Month's Drawing - Fall & Winter Scenes
Well it is definitely the fall season here and I thought that the drawing page for this month should be some things related to the fall.
The fall tree is something that can be adapted to Halloween and winter scenes as well. Have your students try different materials like crayon, chalk and coloured pencils to name a few. Halloween trees can be spooky and scary depending on what the artist desires.
For winter scenes try using blue construction paper as the main background and then draw the tree using dark brown chalk. The ground can be done in white chalk to make a snowy winter scene. Students can add snowmen and snowflakes if they like.

What's New
October finds me doing a few different things. I look forward to being at Auguston Elementary for the month and at MEI, both schools are in Abbotsford. In between all the teaching I will also be back at McCammon Elementary in Chilliwack working on a mural for the school.
So lots to look forward to this month. I hope that each one of you are having a great start to your school year. Have fun drawing and have a great Thanksgiving and later in the month, Halloween.
